Bipolar Disorder Spiritual Help

  • People with weaker egos with the tendencies toward nervous breakdown need help from the two poles of spirituality which are religion and freedom.
  • Healthy people try not to take sadness into their hearts. Sadness can enter into the hearts of weaker souls which can cause them depression which can build up to be a nervous breakdown.
  • Bipolar relates an unstable balance between the two directions which are depression and happiness.

Biopolar disorder can lead to suicide and should be treated immediately with medical care.  Afterwards can be determined if the Biopolar disorder is curable through spiritual strengthening. A person has a nervous breakdown his diagnosis is often Bipolar disorder. In a nervous breakdown the ego of the person has been crashed. People need ego. It keeps them fighting for survival. When the ego is strong it gives people the ability to think clearly. You need to think clearly in order to survive in this world and to function in a competitive society. In life there are many pressures. There are economic pressures which are solved by employment. Sometimes with high expenses one job is not enough. People earning salaries under the cost of living are classified under the poverty level. People living under the poverty level may feel low esteem amongst their social group that are middle class or affluent. Religions teach the importance of helping the poor. Organizations are organized to give charity to the poor. There is social help from welfare. With all the help put together it is sometimes not enough. People feel shame from taking from charity. The stress and shame of poverty can build up even to the extent of a nervous breakdown. The Ego has been shattered. There are places in the world like Venezuela and Yemen where people are starving.

People feel low self-esteem in other ways. Many people have difficulties with relationships of love with the opposite sex. Finding the proper companion is sometimes very difficult. After waiting to meet the right person, it can be frustrating to discover that they are not compatible. The frustration of separation and divorce creates trauma which for some people can result in a nervous breakdown.

Children growing up in Orthodox religious home may want to rebel against their parents and Orthodox religion. Orthodox religion applies pressures on people who want to be free and leave their faith even if they still believe in God. Their parents become angry and threaten to throw them out of the house. The children are faced with a conflict between Orthodox religion and freedom. It can sometimes cause children to have a nervous breakdown.

Children love their parents. When they see their parents continually fighting in the house it has a traumatic effect on children. The parents get divorced and the family is separated into two homes. The children become emotionally weakened. When is added onto these children when they become adults additional stress of life, they can have a nervous breakdown. They feel torn between the two sides, the love of the father and the love of the mother and lose the feeling of security in the home which follows them their whole life.

Nervous breakdowns often come from stress and trauma. Each person is born with genes a chemical balance in different degrees of ego, stronger ego and weaker ego. Those that have naturally a weaker ego or their ego was weakened in childhood are susceptible more to get a nervous breakdown under stress. When they have a breakdown and are in an unstable state of mind doctors will classify their disorder Bi-Polar. If they have hallucinations they may be classified schizophrenic.

Bipolar relates an unstable balance between the two directions which are depression and happiness. Bipolar is also called manic depression. Everyone wants to be happy but we have to accept that in life there are sometimes disappointments. Healthy people are happy. They work to stay happy. People have to also deal with sadness in their lives. Healthy people try not to take sadness into their hearts. Sadness can enter into the hearts of weaker souls which can cause them depression which can build up to be a nervous breakdown.

Religion gives faith in God which people additional strength to cope with obstacles in their lives. The sage Nachum Gam Zu suffered physical afflictions in his life and poverty but with faith would always say Gam Zu LaTova, also this is for good. People that believe in God through their faith can accept the good and the bad and say everything that God does is for good. Religion is one side of spirituality. It helps people function in the world under stresses of life. Religion also demands from people and can cause people stress. The other side of spirituality is freedom. Freedom is faith without religion. Religion is enough for most people and gives most people the faith they need to deal with the stresses of life. For the weaker souls which are susceptible to nervous breakdown they also need the other side of spirituality called freedom. Freedom is universal; it has no boundaries. Religion is specific according to its law, whether it be Torah, Sharia, New Testament. Religion has in it obligations. It gives to its constituents but also demands in return. The help which religion can give to people is limited. Religion can also send people out to war. ISIS is still at war in Syria even after they have been conquered.

People with weaker egos with the tendencies toward nervous breakdown need help from the two poles of spirituality which are religion and freedom. These two poles often conflict. Religion does not give freedom. On the contrary it demands or commands. Life also has its demands livelihood, marriage, religion, national demands. There is the side of life without freedom with obligation. God brought into the world the help for these weaker egos, precious people in the world. The help is in the belief in resurrection. Christianity ignited freedom in the world with the light of resurrection. Religion turned faith into an obligation without freedom. In religion, Judaism, Islam and even today Christianity resurrection comes in the end of time. One of the thirteen principles of faith of Maimonides is the belief in the resurrection of the dead which will come at the end of time. In Ezekiel 37-1, it mentions about the revival of the dead “God will put breath into the bones of the dead.”

The Freedom and faith in resurrection is the other side of spirituality which is the healing of weaker souls with weaker egos even after a nervous breakdown. They are a type of Bipolar which needs the two poles, the two sides of spirituality religion and resurrection. They need a perfect faith more than they could get from religion alone which teaches to believe in God with simple faith.

The resurrection of Jesus was not enough to give the healing for all the weaker souls which would be born after him. Today the belief in the resurrection of all three prophets who are Mohammed, Jesus, and Moses which unite religion and spiritual healing, simple faith with freedom and knowledge of God acquired through the belief in the resurrection is the strongest spiritual healing . For many people freedom comes before religion. For others religion comes before freedom. Freedom alone without religion is not the way to bring the complete healing to those that suffer manic depression. The middle way includes freedom with religion double salvation.

This concept of redemption and healing through resurrection is revealed in the Tikunei Zohar, in the section called Petach Eliyahu. The author of this article has written several books in English on this topic including “Zohar –Psalms”. In Judaism today the resurrection has been revealed by the students of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov connected to Rabbi Israel Odessa and the letter written by the hand of Rabbi Nachman two hundred years after his death with his holy signature Na,Nac,Nachma,Nachman.

(The Picture above is of Rabbi Israel Odessa who received the letter in his hand written and signed by Rabbi Nachman two hundred years after his death. Many Jews in Israel have found that the faith in Rabbi Nachman and in his student Rabbi Odessa to be their answer to depression even Bi-Polar. )
