- Trouble continues to build for Actor Jussie Smollett. His character on “Empire” will be removed from the final two episodes of this season in the wake of his arrest for allegedly coordinating a hate crime hoax. Some cast members think that Smollett sought to play on the show creator Lee Daniels’ emotions in the hopes of becoming “an LGBT hero” and curry favor with his boss.
- The media has responded with a flurry of stories arguing that even if this hate crime story is not true, hate crimes are on the rise in America. The problem is that this is likely not true. “We have higher numbers of incidents, but we also have more and more police agencies participating in the voluntary reporting system.”
- “That this case turned out to be a hoax shouldn’t come as too big of a shock. A great many hate crime stories turn out to be hoaxes. Why do hoaxers hoax? In some cases, the motivations are tawdry and financial.”
- Smollett’s alleged fake “hate crime” appears to be the latest instance of liberals manufacturing hate crimes for attention in the Trump era. A number of news outlets have put together lists of the most outrageous fake hate crimes since Trump was elected.
- Smollett is just the latest in a string of high profile stories the Main Stream Media has hyped that painted Trump supporters in a negative light. The last one, involving high school students from Kentucky has already spawned a lawsuit against The Washington Post for $250 million.
